Fire Prevention Perhaps more important than fire fighting itself within the industrial world is fire prevention. Joint Base Lewis McChord maintains a fire prevention staff of 12 (Chief Inspector, Battalion Chief and 10 fire inspectors) responsible for over 32M square feet of facilities. All are IFSAC certified to the highest prevention level. The branch is charged with enforcement of the local fire prevention code and of state fire laws and regulations. The Joint Base Lewis McChord Fire Prevention Branch seeks to reduce fire loss (i.e. save lives and property) from the dangers of fire through fire prevention and education of the highest level to include: - Educating the populace on all fire safety issues
- Providing fire extinguisher training using both video and state of the art virtual reality equipment
- Professional facility fire inspection to include child care and major medical center facilities, dormitories, special occupancies and all post residents
- Provide home escape plans, smoke detector information, extinguisher information, handouts and general fire prevention.
